A little about me…
I’ve always needed to move…
I truly do love it, but it is also a core part of my being. Over the years I’ve had also had to practice stillness. Mostly through meditation, acceptance, sometimes even grief. One thing I’ve always known, is that we are made to move, in a variety of capacities and we are also made to rest. And we will all experience varying levels of physical limitations, including injuries, mental and emotional crises, pregnancies, health setbacks etc. But I believe we must always fight to find ways to move safely.
For me, after 10 hectic years in the Advertising Industry, I hit a wall a few years ago. The kind of wall you can’t move or climb over but the one you have to sit with to figure out how to get to the other side. It was painful, I was exhausted and didn’t know which way was up, and when I felt like I had nothing to lose anymore, I started to work on my Pilates and Barre certifications. Something I had wanted to do for so many years but I was honestly too scared. In 2018 I completed my Mat Pilates and Barre certifications and began teaching at studios around Boston. I fell in love with creating again, with learning, with connecting with others and since then I’ve continued to expand my experience and certifications to better connect with clients of all abilities and in all seasons of life.
Within all of the change, I also became a mom, twice. I had to navigate the fitness industry as a pregnant woman and then re-navigate it postpartum and it became clear that there is little support or knowledge for pre and postnatal women in the fitness world. After experiencing two vastly different pregnancies and postpartum journeys in my OWN body and becoming a Certified Postpartum Exercise Specialist, I became determined to create a teaching style that would not only be accessible for women who are pregnant or postpartum or anyone dealing with changes and limitations in their bodies, but also one that was INVITING. Where you feel supported and empowered to make movement decisions for your body. That’s why I absolutely adore working with mothers, especially during the immediate postpartum period, when a little bit of movement and connection can make a world of difference in their lives. That’s why you can always find Mom & Baby class options on the schedule.
And in addition to my weekly schedule and events, I offer private solo and group sessions. Have an event coming up? Wedding, bachelorette, fundraiser, local parent meetups? Reach out! I’d love to work together.
